l just bought a 01 is300 an its automatic with E shift. l have alot of money left and l wanna know if its dumb to put a turbo in it even if it has the paddle shifters? So far l ordered headers, intake and full exhaust. I've driven standard all my life and l really wanted this car put could not find it stick so l said fuck it.

you can but it wouldnt be a good idea, your gonna have to upgrade a lot of your engine internal parts in order for an auto tranny to handle the power and stress from a turbo

To answer ur question, no it is not dumb. The benefits to an auto can be seen with a lot of drag cars, since mis-shifting will no longer be a problem. but if u were looking to put the car to a track or a twisty road, understand that it is a general rule that autos do not downshift as fast.

Granted the auto trannies r not as diesel, u can worry about that when the tranny goes, finding a replacement tranny is not a big deal since u can find used jdm transmissions for dirt cheap nowadays, anyways.
