Are the Lexus ES 300 good for teens (1998-2001)

l would say ''no''. It might be a safe car for a teen to drive, however, it sets an abnormally high expectation for them later. They need to be ''humbled'' a bit - get them a Chevy or a nice Hyundai. Give them something to work for. Otherwise, if you buy them a Lexus, then they will always expect the best.

l had to drive crappy cars when l was a teen. It really made me appreciate my first Mercedes (that l bought on my own).

These cars are very reliable and drive better than most other luxury cars. I've had 94 es300 and just recently lost it because it was totaled from the rear. l would def. recommend this car. More than likely your teen would take pride in this car and baby it. If your afraid of spoiling your kid just make it clear that this is the only car you intend to buy for them.

Sure. It has Camry reliability with a bit more luxury. But as far as features go, there is not much much to it. It is not the car that will spoil you, it is the name. Up until 2002 the ES was not technologically advanced and the interior was pretty plain. If you can afford to service it then go for it and enjoy. Just be aware that Lexus service will cost substantially more than Toyota service.
