Gas prices are crazy. What harm does it do to use regular gas?

yes l would highly suggest that you get premium, if not super, gas. my friend just did the same thing with an Audi and completey f-ed up his gas lines and engine and has to pay alot of money to fix it.

in the long run it will cost more to skimp out on regular and have to pay bank to fix your car, then if you just spring a couple extra bucks for premium or super. so do the smart thing and get the better gas l would HIGHLY SUGGEST IT IF YOU LIKE YOUR CAR.

The car has a high compression engine, therefore it needs the premium fuel to burn completely. If you put regular unleaded, it may knock (clatter) and sound like a diesel. Performance will suffer, and subsequently engine damage. Face the music, you got a nice car, treat it well. l have an Audi, and it takes premium, but l suck it in and deal with it.

l cannot tell the difference in performance in my GS450h when l use premium or regular. l cannot tell in the LS430 or the GX470. So l use regular. Modern technology takes care of the knock. You will have to judge whether there is a performance degradation; l can not.

Like another poster has said, modern technology has made it possible to put regular gas in cars that require premium, although l do not know how well it works. The thing is, the difference in cost between regular & premium is not worth the risk. In a 20 gallon tank, u save less than $5? So that should equate to less than $10 a week l hope. or else you're driving way too much. Since gas prices r already so high, should not it make more sense to say that the slight difference in price is just that, slight? Proportionally, that difference is less than the total amount u pay, so it should matter less that premium is a bit more expensive. That is my theory =) l keep telling that to myself every time l drop $80 on a tank, & yes, l have a 20.6 gallon tank. (sc400)

Most motors that the manufacturer suggests premium gasoline be used will retard the ignition & u will get less power if u use regular. Some cars r more sensitive than others. l would be a little concerned about damaging the oxygen sensors should u put in the cheapest possible gas. If u r gonna try regular, pay a little more & use a Top tier fuel. Top tier fuels have special additives & detergents that were specially designed to be used in certain cars, & Toyota & Lexus were on that list. Chances r ur Costco & Sams club gases do not have them & could over time gunk up some sensors & cause a high dollar headache. Just do a quick internet search for a ''top tier gas'' & that should be of some help.

l just bite it & put in premium. It has always consistently been 20 cents more, even when gas was a $1.00 a gallon.

Why the complaint? Can not afford the ride? Get rid of it and get some that gives you a better gas mileage. There are lost of cars that runs on Flex Fuel, that are better than a glorified Toyota.
