A gas reserve is when the gas meter hits the E, the amount of miles of gas still in the car. Many cars have these so that once it hits the E, you still have some spare gas to last till you get to a gas station.

l just about a 1993 lexus, I am wondering if it has a gas reserve, and if so how much?

All gas thanks hit E before it is actually empty (you call it reserve). As TV show tested it because there was even some YouTube video of people pushing their car to the limit.

It turns out that most car can go about 50 or 60 miles (hwy) after E. WOW !!!

Once a gas tank is on E. Most cars have about 20 - 30 miles of gas left to get you to a gas station.

All of my Lexus models have a reserve indicator light. It leaves me with approximately 2.6 gallons of gas. Beyond that, l do not push it: too much trouble walking/waiting for a refill. As l recall, it was never a good idea to run dry on a diesel.

So, l do not go much below the light; that is my reserve.

Every car has an amount left as soon the E, Red Line or Low Fuel light comes on. Depend of the car, the average is about 30 miles.

When it says E and/or Low Fuel. Means that needs fuel NOW. Is not 30 miles later you need to stop. Is good for travel that you know how far can you go if you need gas.

Your Owner is Manual tells you what is the range. However, you mileage can change due to weather, driving habits, etc.

l am not sure if it has a gas reserve, but driving on Empty is bad for your car is fuel injector. When gas is low, it starts to suck air instead of gas, which messes up the car. So be safe; when it is on E, start looking for a gas station. Hope that helped.
