Bn lookin at gettin a Lexus Hybrid car.. but what does Hybrid mean exactly?

l know it better for the economy but like do ya use less fuel n stuff?

There is a gas engine that runs during hard acceleration or load with a electric motor that drives the auto.The engine runs at a constant rate to charge the battery and run the motor.during low loads the battery powers the motor.Good Luck.

Yep. It has an electric motor as well as a petrol engine. Less fuel = more economic.

It is still not as economic as a car could be.

The hybrid car RX400h as manufactured by Lexus, is only slightly more economical than the earlier RX300 model (though do u look at circa 10% as a small figure?).

The body of the vehicle hides a battery that is charged throughout driving during driving & allows certain elements of the cars functionality to run independantly of the engine. The start up facility of the vehicle is activated by the battery, & is almost soundless, until u hit the accellerator.

l drive a GS450h one of three hybrids produced by Lexus.
It uses a 3.5 liter gas engine to drive 2 electric motors. One serves as the starter motor/electric generator the other serves as a drive motor/generator. Hence, the term hybrid: it uses a bit of both technologies.

The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) starts the first start of the day otherwise it only operates under load or when the traction battery(there r two batteries: the traction & a conventional 12V like all cars) needs to be charged.

My best mileage is 28+ but normally about 25.5mpg. Lexus Hybrids r not generally about great fuel mileage but rather performance. My GS has V8 performance with a V6 engine.

Better mileage is available with a Toyota Camry Hybrid or a Toyota Prius but they lack performance. Lexus is said to be thinking of a Lexus badged Prius soon.

You need to decide whether u r after performance & luxury or gas mileage.

they get better gas milage liketheres one faster than a 911 turbo and 23 mpg dosnt sound like much but with over 500hp thats realy good

Hybrid is a combination of gas & electric.
It is supposed to better on gas than most regular cars. My car gets 29 mpg without being a hybrid. You get about 5-6 miles more per gallon.

Hybrids are ridiculously overpriced for what you would save on gas.
