Lexus cars are great. They're luxurious, reliable, and fun to drive.
if your looking for an SUV, the RX would be a perfect chocie for you. It has a unique style to it, it seats five, has many safety features, and has a very nice interior, not to mention that its a hybrid! which means you save money on gas.
Also, a few good sedans would be: GS 300 IS 250 ES 350
And if your lookign for a bigger SUV, the GX470 is a good deal

Yes Lexus makes rock solid cars with no real rliability issues EXCEPT a few CEL problems with the 07 IS & ES models. It reall depends what u want to buy & what suits ur needs. l see no need in anyone buying the ES models. If u like the RX400h then all the better to you. l like the appearance & being it a Hybrid will definately cut back slightly, not a lot, on gas consumption. l would suggest looking long & hard at the IS350 if you're into performance, or even the IS-F considering the RX400h is in the price range. Othewr comparable cars to the RX400h include: -BMW X5 4.4i (Garbage, do not bother) -Infiniti FX45 -Acura RDX -Mercedes Benz GL350

Lexus is definitely a great choice.
l know someone with an RX350 & its an amazing cross over vehicle.
It is small enough to let u take sharp turns with ease, but also big enough for u to feel some power & to take bumps.
One thign to note about Lexus, when comparing to other high end brands. Lexus ranks number one in the majority of safety tests which is significant.
As for the 400h. Whle it is definitely an amazing vehicle, l just want to point out that you're going to be paying quite a bit more for it. & u really need to consider whether you're going to be saving THAT much on gas versus simply buying the 330.
Some alternatives & their flaws:
Infinity FX35 (Found it to be WAY too low to the ground) Acura MDX (Huge, did not handle turns well) BMX X3 (smaller than the RX, but seemed as nice)

Ditto to everything said above. l own one and l have had NO performance or maintenance problems at all. Lexus is among Consumer Reports best picks and gets most of Consumer Reports highest ratings. which is why l bought one.

the Lexus RX has set the bar for every cross over on this planet.. it was one of the first cross overs ever built and still sets the bar.. l would highly recommend this vehicle. although, personally if l were you, l would wait for another 5 or 6 months, because the in 2009 the RX is going to get fully remodeled. assuming that appeals to you

Like any car, just take care of it and will last. If you are looking for Toyota quality get a Toyota. As is right now, they are not the only one with reliable cars. On the last consumer report, Buick passed Toyota.

Are they good? Toyota / Lexus are the highest quality. Not sure I'd waste my money on a Hybrid , but, you're looking at one of the best automakers ( and l own Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Pontiac AND Lexus).

Just buy the regular one. You may break even on gas savings compared to the price of the regular one.

Lexus has been in the top 5 most reliable vehicles since l can remember and the #1 most reliable vehicle brand for the last couple of years. And they're a luxury brand. Lexus pioneered the whole concept that luxury cars should also be reliable cars so you can bet you're getting an excellent vehicle with Lexus, no matter which one you choose.

All Lexus vehicles are great.
About the RX400h, you might also want to consider the Toyota version --- the Highlander Hybrid. It is bigger than the RX and about $10,000 cheaper.
(the Highlander was redesigned last year but the RX was not redesigned)

As everybody else said... a Lexus is an excellent choice. As they started out as a luxury brand they have retained the u can have a reliable car & get good service. That is why they edged out Mercedes & BMW. Their attitude was that is was a privilege to own one so therefore service was lacking & any repair was expensive.
l have owned several Lexus is & have never had an issue... ever. They r Japanese made so they last. l have kept my old 1990 one as a ''beater car''. The one that l love more than my new one. It drives like a top & the interior has held up great.
l do concur with the others in regard to hybrids. Yes after looking at gas consumption, tax breaks, being able to use HOV lanes & all of that they may look good.
But u pay way more up front. You really do not save much at all in gas & if u have a repair issue it will cost ten times more. Hybrids r a good idea but the whole thing is not really practical yet.

They will last forever, more reliable than anything you will ever own, and they will completely remove you from the road. l respect Lexus vehicles, but they are so over-engineered, they are no fun to drive.
However, if you are looking for reliability, you can not beat them.
