after l line the cams up on the inside of the valve cover do l then have to align them up on the outside or are they still lined up

there will be a diagram of how to line up the notches on the gears look online for it or get a haynes manual..take your time and make sure you do this perfectly..failure to do so will result in the car either not running.running terribly.or bent valves.

make sure the engine is at Top Dead Center on the compression stroke on #1 cylinder before you start lining up anything.

They r called Timming Marks or Points. You need a shop manual. All engines that l have seen, they have some kind of marks to allign the crank with the cams to syncronize it. If not, u r doomed & if u get lucky the car will not run but it will back fire like crazy. The worst case, u can bend a valve & mess up a piston in the process. If they r out of synch. Toyotas r not magical devices, they r like any other car.

Get a shop manual & start reading ASAP.
