I have a 1998 Lexus LS 400 this has a the v-8 how often should the timing belt be changed in this model

l am getting conflicting info from lexus dealers. l have been told it does not have a timing belt perhaps gear or chain dirven, but yesterday a dealer said the it has a belt. any body know ?

are you sure it is a belt and not a chain?

The recommended interval is 63,000 miles or every 7 years for the 4 litre 1UZ-FE engine.

It is a timing belt have it replaced every 7 years or 90,000 miles

the timing belt on your LS is recommended to be changed every 60k miles.. however these things will easily last 100k even 140k but it is risky to go much further then that. if it breaks nothing will happen so thats good to know at least.

check the manual or when you go and get an oil change they could check them for you, it is standard in most oil changes to check the timing belts
