l have had my SC400 for about 6 months now. About 3 months ago l took it to a man who is supposed to be the best knowledge for Soarers in England and who runs the Soarer Sancturay. He was supposed to have service my car but l recently had problems with the brakes and the engine. l took it to my local garage who said it had old plugs, a dirty filter and the oil hadnt been changed. Also the brake pads were down to the metal which should have been seen by him. When l complained he told me to F*** off and becase it was over a month after he would not do anything. He also runs a Soarer web site l think called Toyota Imports forum. l spent over £200 for this service work and l dont know much about cars (know about driving them but nowt under the bonnet) but the mechanic here who has the car now says l had been taken for a fool.
Anyone know what l should do?
BarbaraL:Yes it was Smiffie. l bought the car from Autotrader and the guy told me about a website he (this Smifie) runs called toyota imports forum. So l got details and went up there to his garage. He was nice enough when l got up there and paid him but as soon as l had problems he was a right t**t. Told me the mechanic knew nothing and l should get lost. l looked on another forum called Lexus Soarer Owners club and some guys there told me ti was not unusual. l think i will have to put this one down to esperience and make sure l dont get bit again by cowboys like him.

Big Carp well everyone told me it was a hard job getting to one side of the engine for the plugs besides l wanted a check up of the car. With the brakes the local guy told me that one of them was seezed and had been for ages.

well if u have the money and time you could sue him or just forget that it ever happened and act like the 200 pounds got stolen!!

seriously? theres nothing u can do at this point. u said its been over a month.. u can easily wear out a pair of brake pads in a day or two on the track... so good luck trying to prove ur case. as far as the plugs go.. should've done em yourself, it is a few hour job AT MOST on the 1uzfe motor that is in ur soarer, everything in that v8 is really open & easy to work on. who is this guy u r talking about? let me know his name & his website, & l will see if l can help u out because l know soarers like the back of my hand.

If the mechanics name is Smiffie then it is the same idiot who messed up my husbands car about a year n half ago. My husband told him wahat the problem was and what needed replacing but he would not listen. In then end it cost us almost a thousand pounds to put right the problem whichis more than Toyota would have charged. His problem was the brakes as well.

Lol. this guy Smiff is a racist bigot. l complained on his website about some racist threads (anti-muslim) and he told me the same. A guy l met in West Mids got talking to me at a garage as he liked my Soarer 2.5 TT (mass better than the V8 :) ) and he knew the gy for ages. He left his website because of what a pillock this Smiffie is. Mate take my advice, go to the other website and see JEM wiv any problems. He is an idiot and racist.
