im not saying they're bad or unattractive... l think the gs is beautiful. but l just see camry is and land cruisers and harriers and prados when l look at them.

l agree they are supposed to drive better but for the price its nit worth it

duh the es 350 is Camry xle v 6 , no Avalon sister in Lexus but LANd cruiser is 30 grand cheaper than Lexus counterpart people in the know use Toyota parts to replace Lexus ones at half the price

they labeled most of them to start out with as a luxury because most of them other than the ES were rear wheel drive. and plus the label started out to trick people into buying an import

Mercedes & Chrysler have split but many Mercedes like the E-class & R class use the same bodies as the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger & Chrysler Pacifica, r Mercedes glorified Chryslers then? l would say no. Simular to the Lexus & Toyota relationship, Lexus is have better quality parts & r designed more luxoriously while sharing some parts together. Toyota engineering is great & l rather have a glorified Toyota than a glorified Chrysler/Dodge. If u say Lexus is a glorified Toyota, then u would also say that Audi is r glorified VW is too. The Porsche Cayenne uses the same body as the VW Toureg (PorscheCayenne=Glorified toureg?). Cadillac is use chevrolet parts(cadillac=glorified Chevy?). Jaguar, Volvo, Aston Martin all use Ford parts, r they all glorified Ford's? The answer is a definite NO.

l agree. l have had many Toyotas but wanted something better and recently bought a Lexus, knowing that it is an overpriced Toyota. Why? Because Toyota purposely ''dumbs down'' their product line to allow room for Lexus. The Avalon used to be a near-luxury car, but now it does not have enough luxury features to even be called near-luxury. Toyota could easily offer high-end models with power and luxury -- but they would eat sister Lexus is lunch if they did.

so a jazzed up Toyota with better handling, great tech, and more comfortable interior is a bad thing ??? You are essentially getting the most dependable vehicle made in a BETTER format. Yea its a glorified Toyota and that is a good thing !!!

Can u buy a Toyota that was built in Japan in the us (excluding land cruiser because most people dont buy a $75k truck)? The answer is NO. & what the f.u.c.k is ur point anyways? Lexus is the best selling luxury brand in north america, period. Yeah a bmw will handle better out of the box.. but it will break down 50 times more then a lexus & after 3 years when they're off their free service plan they r useless.. unless u carry tens of thousands of dollars in ur pocket that u do not mind to throw away on premature failures & repairs. Not hating, just stating the truth.. l like both brands but the truth is evident.

Yes the ES, RX & LX r glorified Toyotas. However they r still great cars. The ES is great value for an entry level model while the LX is truely a world class SUV that competes directly with the Range Rover. IMO the ES bares no resemblence to the Camry.

Every other Lexus is a true Lexus & is able to compete with some of the world is finest cars.

drive one and then tell me what you think. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! IF YOU DRIVE A TOYOTA AND THEN A LEXUS OF SIMILAR SIZE AND ENGINE DISPLACEMENT THEN YOU WILL NOTICE THE THE LEXUS WILL PERFORM BETTER AND RIDE SMOOTHER.
