the tire power presser light showed up on my car. if l go to the dealer will they charge me? and for how much? its only been exactly one year. thanks

Your vehicle should still be under warranty, even for a low tire pressure light.

Before u go off to the dealer, simply check the pressure in all of ur tires manually. Stop at Auto Zone, Pep Boys, or any other auto parts store, & pick up a tire pressure gauge. They're relatively cheap, & a very good thing to have for any car owner, no matter how fanatical they are, or aren't. If you're not sure how to work the gauge, ask one of the guys at the store to help you. They will show u how to use it & tell u how much pressure there should be in ur tires. Check the tires. If any of the tires r too low, this is more than likely the cause of the warning light you're seeing. Go to a local gas station, & fill up the low tire (or tires) with air, checking periodically with ur newly purchased tire pressure gauge, until they r all filled to the correct pressure. After that, get into ur car & start it up. If the light is no longer on, then congratulations! You've just saved yourself a bunch of time & aggravation over taking it to the Lexus dealer. Also, you've learned a valuable skill, that u obviously need. However, if none of ur tires r low, & the light it still on, then more than likely the Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor on one of the wheels (or more than one wheel) is bad. This will require u to take the car to the dealer to get the sensors replaced. However, since the car should still be under warranty, (as the Lexus Tech. on here has already said) then u probably wo not have to pay much, if anything to get the problem fixed.

The dealer will not charge u to check the pressure or put air in. However, if there is something really wrong like a slow leak or a puncture, u will be charged for that. Also note, the spare tire has the same sensor as the 4 you're driving on. If the pressure in the spare does not match the 4 it will also make the light come on. Best bet get a tire pressure gauge from an auto parts store. Only cost a few bucks. If the pressure is indeed off, put air in the tire. The correct pressure for ur tires is on the door jamb of the driver is door sticker.
