lexus 96 es 300 takes a while to drive off after i put it in drive and press the gas pedal

l press the gas pedal the car revs then moves off after a minute or so of reving

First, check the transmission fluid level. Hope & pray it is low.

If it is not, u may have some major problems. l assume u mean it acts like it is in neutral, & then catches. If that is not the case, then u could have lots of different problems - sticking brake, etc. If the fluid is normal, & it acts like it is in neutral, u may be in for a rebuild. Maybe, if u get lucky, a fluid change will help, but other than that, u may be sunk.

Takes time to take off, is it one of those very bad cars called lexus. Get a BMW instead.
