We have a Lexus IS 300 and on the battery the blue light claims the battery is working good, but the car wo not start. Is there an easy fix l do not know about?

it could be the starter, l have a lexus es300 and l had that same problem, try changing it.

The easiest fix is to call a mechanic. A good mechanic will make it look easy.

What happens when u try to start it? Do u hear the starter solenoid ''click?'' Does the engine turn over at all? Or does it do absolutely nothing?

The first (and easiest) thing to do is make sure the battery posts r clean & making a good connection.

Turn on the headlights of the car & watch them as someone else tries to start the car. If the lights go very dim or go out completely, chances r u r getting power to the starter (starting circuit is working) but it is not cranking.

If u have a volt meter, check the voltage of the battery just to make sure it is good. Should be just over 12 volts just testing it across the posts or from the positive post to a good ground. Not entirely sure about a Lexus, but u should be able to check voltage between the negative battery post & the large connector on the starter. l am thinking it should read battery voltage, 12 volts. Then check the voltage between the battery & the smaller connector on the starter, which is the starter solenoid. Should be no voltage until someone turns the ignition ON, then it should read about 12 volts as well. If u get voltage to the starter when the ignition is turned to start & there is no cranking, the starter is shot. If u get NO voltage to the starter, then it is probably something else like a starter relay, fuse, or ignition switch. (More than likely if it is determined it is not a bad starter, it is probably a relay or a fuse. Ignition switches do go bad, but all things considered it is probably the most reliable part of the ignition system.)

If u hear the starter solenoid ''click'' when u turn the ignition to start, but the engine wo not crank, u could try to tap the starter. Sometimes they get stuck which means the starter is on it is way out & needs to be replaced. But tapping it might get it to work a few times before it finally gives up completely. Sometimes u have to ''tap'' it pretty hard if u know what l mean. ;-)

The light on the battery is false indication of the battery,since it only sits in one cell of the battery,any of the other five cells can be bad and make the battery low voltage.Also battery terminals have to be clean and tight.

Can you able to turn your Steering wheel and Ignition ??, If not then its the problem of safety locking.Keep turning your wheel anticlockwise and ignition clockwise will help.

you can not rely on the battery indicator. how old is the batt? check the posts and clean. turn on the radio all the lights and try to start the car. if the lights dim, you might have to replace the starter. if u can go to a autoparts store, ask to borrow or rent a load tester and do a load test on batt. that will truly tell you if you battery is bad, otherwise tow it to a mechanic and fork over the dough..
