driver side door locked/wo not open./no service can unlock-or open door for repair..have been to multiple agencies and a lexus dealer...all quotes are open ended..for analysis ''$120+ to $800+''Each time l have left the car for several days because ''we can fix it''...resulting in ...can not get door open..will have to cut into the door and then we will see''I am 75yrs old...hard to climb to driver side. It is most likely a broken spring in the latch mechanism. When the spring breaks, the latch remains in the locked position. Here r a couple ideas on how to go about fixing it:

1. With the window down, pry the inner door panel up & off of the door. The latch mechanism has a plastic shroud around it that u may (likely will) have to partially break away. Doing so gives u access to the trip lever & allows u to open the door. With the door open it is easy to remove the inner panel.

2. If u can find one, a few mechanics (not dealer mechanics) r able to pick the lock with the window in the down position using a piece of electrical wire. With the door open the mechanic can take off the lock & replace the spring. If u can find a guy who knows what to do, expect to pay $150.
