l am thinking about getting a 1999 Lexus IS 300 with 109k miles. Is this a good idea or not?
Thanks for the info guys. l meant a 2001 Lexus IS 300... the car I am trading (if l do it) is a 1999 so that is what l was thinking,

First of all, there is no 1999 Lexus IS300. l own a 99 Lexus GS300, with 110,000 miles currently. It is not only the best car l have owned (first car in 1951), but the best car anyone l know has ever owned. l have replaced the starter & lower ball joints, & have installed new front brake pads. Other that these, only routine maintenance from Lexus, & they r very good at it! Your look depends on whether or not this car has been maintained properly. Look at the records. These r very good cars!

If its been taken care of any modern car will be fine for at least 150k miles. If not there is no telling so make sure its got records.

It has an inline-6, instead of the lame V-6 is used today, so the engine should last a VERY long time. The rest of the car is pretty decent too.

Do not expect it to be a luxury car, though, as it is a sports sedan.

Will l have a 1993 lexus sc 300 with 120,000 miles on it and l have to problem. l know with the older lexus cars you are able to get 300,000 miles out of it if you take car of it. l have seen lexus cars with over 200,000 miles on them and nothing wrong with it. so l would say get that car it will last you for a long time to come if you take car of it.

If the car was maintained well, the car will last another 100,000+ miles. Make sure the services are done in it, especially the timing belt/water pump. That is the main weakness of these cars and the most costly failure.

You will expect the usual wear and tear items to fail like alternators, starters, batteries, belts and hoses but the motor and transmission if maintained properly and not abused should run for many more reliable miles.
