l did a research project a few weeks ago and l went to a Mercedes dealer. l asked how a Mercedes would compare with a Lexus. The saleslady told me that Mercedes is more prestigious and that it is the safest car in the world. She says a Lexus is just a Toyota. l knew she was telling me all kinds of lies. l said that even a Toyota Camry has a five star crash safety rating and that the E and C-Class only recieved a four star crash safety rating (according to National Highway Traffic Safety Admin). She says that you could not compare a Camry with a Mercedes. Then l asked, ''Well, would not you expect a Mercedes that costs 3 times as much to be safer than a Toyota?'' She then went on about how hardly anyone has died in a Mercedes before, except for Princess Diana. l know Japanese cars have a stereotype of being light and unsafe, but facts today do not seem to support that claim. Rather be in a Toyota Camry.
Lexus is Toyota. but Toyota, especially Camry, is one of the safest car. you are right about the 5 star thus can only be match by S class Mercedes Benz. Price is about image and prestige.
Mercedes Benz, has more prestigious value (not price, especially re-sell price for Mercy would drop to 50 %) while people will think that Toyota Camry is not as prestigious as Mercedes E class but yield only about 30 % a year.

lexus is safer than mercedes. lexus is even safer than toyota despite the same company. the reason l say lexus is safer than toyota is beacause look at the prices. what do u think you're paying for when buying a lexus. of they put all the safety stuff that is on a lexus on a toyota camry no one could afford it. all the sensors & safety crap on the lexus alone is half the price of a camry. & the reason the lady said hardly no one has died in a mercedes is because no one buys them. count how many toyota is u see & then count how many mercedes u see. & l doubt the mercedes dealership hears about every little crash

l would rather be in a body-on-frame car such as a Ford Crown Victoria. Much better protection all the way around.

l would defiantly go with the Camry or Toyota product. Lexus and Toyota are far better in terms of quality, safety and reliability. l have a 1992 Camry and besides problems with the A/C it runs great.

Mercedes r designed in Germany where the speed limit is still as fast as u can go in many places. The car must be designed for high speed driving, as well as high speed crashes.
That is why Mercedes cost so much. it is the engineering of the vehicle. Look on youtube & look for Mercedes crashes., there is a video with a high speed crash & it shows the person getting out of the upside down car., getting out.

Let is see a Lexus do that. There is no room to drive fast in Japan. Any other opinion is just rubbish. look at the facts, not what u want to here.
