Looking at buying a used Lexus ES300, 200K miles, says it needs a $300 set of head gaskets?Only need the car to last a year or so...comments?l do not know a whole lot about cars.

The gasket set by itself is going to be $300. The heads will need to be taken off and taken to a machine shop to make sure that they are flat enough. This is also a good time to get new valve seals. Then everything needs to be reassembled. its going to cost $1500 ball park. Not a cheap fix. May be a good time to consider getting a different car.
