Lexus Maintenance?
l have a 2007 Lexus IS 250 and l was wondering what the costs were for maintenance. l have about 8,500 miles on my car and was wondering if it was ''REQUIRED'' or necessary to have maintenance on my car at 10,000 miles. According to someone l know here are the costs:

1000 mile service - free
5000 mile service 140
10000 mile service 140
15000 mile service 340
20000 mile service 140
25000 mile service 140
30000 mile service 450

l would also like to know what they do on maintenance checks.

If anyone could give me the details on maintenance on a Lexus it would really be helpful.

Lexus dealers can charge any amount they want for their services, so shop it before ur buy it. Also, many dealers develop their own 5,000 mile services just to get the $$$ from you. The best source for what needs to be done is the maintenance schedule booklet that came with ur IS. Notice that there r 2 schedules, normal & severe duty. Choose ur type of driving & then look at the items for each service. Note that u will usually see ''R'' meaning u must replace the part, ''I'' to inspect the item & ''A'' to align a part. Depending on ur comfort level, many of the ''I'' & ''A'' items can be done by u in just a few minutes such as check the coolant level. Ask the dealer what it costs to just get the ''R'' items done & u will see a huge price difference. Most of the modern imports do not need much preventative maintenance until the 30k, 60k & 90k mileage levels. As an example, most spark plugs & timing belts go to 90,000 miles before replacement is needed. Hope this helps!

It is usually always cheaper if u just tell the dealer what u want done seperatly. Your car really does not require much maintenance. The automatic transmission fluid is a lifetime fluid & does not have to be changed, the engine coolant is 100,000mi coolant, & ur engine has a timing chain instead of a belt, so there is no timing belt to replace at 90k miles. Here is what u should have done:

Every 5,000 miles - Change oil & filter, Rotate Tires
Every 10,000 miles - Have the tires balanced to insure quality ride.
Every 15,000 miles - Engine air filter, A/C cabin air filter, differential fluid, 4 - Wheel alignment(optional)
Every 30,000 miles - PCV valve
Every 90,000 miles - Spark Plugs, Engine drive belt
Every 100,000 miles - Engine Coolant

Your first REQUIRED service probably is not until somewhere close to or over 100,000 miles. Thats when they change the spark plugs and do some real work. The ones before that (especially the ones below 25,000 miles) are just check ups, oil changes, and the topping off of fluids.
