Definately, Lexus and Toyota are actually the same manufacturer, but Toyota found that most garage owners of Toyota Garages didnt drive Toyotas but high end cars like Jaguars and Mercedes Benz etc. So they came up with the Lexus brand of high end cars. And due to the prouction rate of cars and spare parts the costs are higher.
For overall cost of parts etc Toyota are cheaper.

lexus is owned by toyota but lexus is the luxe segment so normal toyota parts are cheaper and is cost of maintainance is less. though lexus makes better statement

Hi, Toyota and Lexus are the same company.
Lexus was set up as a luxury car maker for Toyota hence the prices and running costs are about the same.
So if l was to choose it would be a Lexus as it is seen as a more luxury type car.
GOOD LUCK.

u can swap some parts between some Toyota & Lexus. so u would be able to keep costs down by buying the toyota parts for a lexus. it depends on what model u get too.the older ES300s were a dressed up version of the Camry. the trucks, the LX470 is a dressed up version of the Land Cruiser (both r expensive).

overall, l would say the toyota will cost less. since things dont break too often on Toyotas, personaly, l would go for a Lexus, retains it is value & better creature comforts (nice leather & wood grain).

either way, u cant go wrong.

They're both made by Toyota. Lexus is the brand they give to their luxury range.

If a component is shared between Toyota & Lexus vehicles then it will be the same price. So it that respect it does not matter which u buy. There r many such components including ignition bits, brake components, bulbs etc.

If a component is a common car facility but posh so that it is exclusive to the Lexus range, i.e. Toyota is will have them but it wo not be so posh (e.g. seats, in car entertainment kit) then the Lexus equivalent will cost more.

What do u expect? Lexus is the up-market product but uses a huge number of common components with it is 'lesser' brethren. You should not use cost of parts as a comparison between vehicle types from the same maker. It is a complex & futile exercise.

Try this - Compared to lesser Toyota products Lexus cost more to buy, more to insure & use more petrol. This also means their CO2 emissions r higher & so their Road Tax is higher.
They r also much more comfortable & classy to ride around in but not necessarily quicker.

Depends on your payment range. If you can afford 600 or more per mo. go with Lexus. Better performance and quality. Parts usually last longer like Toyota. Either way they are both good cars in quality. (Toyota Co. owns Lexus).

With cost of parts, yes, it would be better to go with Toyota. Lexus uses high quality, expensive parts on their vehicles to ensure durability and reliability. Toyota owns and operates Lexus so really, a Lexus is a more expensive, better built Toyota. Lexus was built to appeal to the crowd who have the extra money to spend. Toyota is equally as good, though. You can think of Toyota as the luxury brand in the ''built for a family'' competition area.

As others have already pointed out , Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota just as Infiniti is to Nissan & Accura to Honda. The Lexus ES350, the smallest of the Lexus sedans, shares the same platform (chassis) with the Toyota Camry just as the Infiniti l series used to with the Nissan Maxima.

To ask point blank whether u would be better of with a Toyota or a Lexus is similar to asking whether you'd be better of staying at a $80/night room at the Hampton Inn or at a $ 160/night room at the Hilton Hotel. Both r owned by Hilton but while one stresses economy & efficiency the other comfort & luxury.

You did ask specifically in terms of costs of parts though. In those terms, of course a regular Toyota model would be more economical than a Lexus.

Most Lexus new car buyers (as most Infiniti & Accura new car customers), however, do not keep their vehicles more than 3 to 5 years & for those high quality vehicles, parts do not wear out in those initial years. Therefore, for those folks ( l am one of them), the costs of parts r a non-issue.
