This car has 101,000 miles on it, and is a 96 model.Its going for 10 grand do you guys think its a good deal.l need a reliable car one that will last me a long time.From what ive heard these cars can go past 200,000 no problem.

I'd take my 10K and buy a Kia Rio with 0 miles on it. That is just me though. l am not a fan of used cars. ALL have reliability issues.

l havent seen this particular car but l have driven a lexus sc400. l have also read some road tests. both my sources conclude that this is a terrible car. yes it is reliable but there so many more cars that are reliable and in my opinion l think u should opt for a different car.

also, the mileage is high so resale is going to be poor. l kno as well they can last a long time but u most certainly wont get much of ur money back

As long as you have the money to keep fixing it! It is not a cheap car to keep on the road.

Is it a good car? Any Lexus is a good car, but this is a good car by itself. For the SC was designed alone, from the ground up. The SC400 only comes in automatic cause it has so much raw torque that no manual transmission can handle it. If u turn off traction control & over drive, she will lay smoke till u let ur foot off.

Mile wise, 101,000 is like 20,000 on most other cars. She has all stainless steel exhaust plus many other items that make her last forever. Most Lexus will run to 300,000 if taken care of.

Like any car, maintenance needs to be kept up. And since this is a Lexus, it can become expensive at times. For one, u NEVER want to take this car anywhere but to a Lexus dealership or u will pay for it when they blow it up, seen it happen a hundred times by Tuffy, Midas, Goodyear, etc. So be warned of this from the git go.

They r great on dry pavement, r a blast on curvy roads & straight aways she will rocket up to 140mph with ease. The stats on the car rank even with a Chevy Camamo Z28 with the Corvette 6 speed package. She might not be lightning off the line, but keep ur foot to the floor of any Lexus & the computer will over ride luxury & give u power.

Lexus = Luxury Exotic + Unreal Speed. The + sign is tipped over (x) cause of the unreal speed.

Also be warned..this is not a winter car.for she hates snow with a passion, even with traction control. Buddy just got a 98' SC400 & he got just 2'' of snow, he could not go anywhere, just sat & spun. And if u do get going & hit thick snow, u risk actually lifting the car off the ground by compacting snow underneath it.

Price wise.for year, miles...seems a bit high. Should be more around $8500. Now if extra items have been added, wheels or it has the Nakamichi stereo system.then the price can go up.

Check all records on the car..see if timing belt has been done, when last tune up was done. Has transmission been flushed, changed & new filter. What bout suspension & parts. Last brake job. If all the maintenance is up to date, then again the price is fair.


edit: If u like this car but what it as all year round with same power & fun..GS400. If u can not afford that, GS300 & give up some of the speed. But all the rest is there.

Just stay with 98' up GS models..those prior, 1st generation, r dogs, not worthy of the name really.
