Does anyone know about lexus''s, and can tell me if it is worth getting from a dealer.Im looking for a nice car thats in expensive and one that will last me a long time. How many miles do you think l can squeeze out of a vehicle with this many miles before its time to rebuild the engine?

Maybe 5 miles or so. Just buy a Toyota mini.

You're better off buying a car with a lot lower mileage on it. It wo not be long before you're shelling out hundreds if not thousands of dollars in major repairs.

Were these 2 cars well cared for? How many owners have had the cars? A 2000 year with over 100,000 miles is BAD news. That person (or people) did not care how far they drove, just drove. l doubt they put that kind of mileage on driving to work & back daily. A 1996 with that many is more realistic, due to the age of the vehicle. Just because the cars r for sale at the dealership does not mean squat. Unless the dealership is participating in the Certified Pre-Owned program, then u could be getting a lemon car. Certified Pre-Owned means that car is been checked over with a fine toothed comb & the dealership knows how many owners, how well maintained & has performed any needed repairs ahead of time.

Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans & Hyundai r great cars that last a long time. l own a 1992 Honda Accord EX that is been in my household since 1993. It had low miles, almost 30,000 & was a lease return. It now has over 155,000, runs like a dream & gives me little problems.

It is been well cared for over the years, routine maintenance done on time, tires rotated & replaced, belts replaced as needed, etc. When l took my Honda into a dealership to have the a/c converted 2 years ago, the mechanics were very impressed at how well my car was taken care of. They told me they seen hundreds of Hondas from the 90s in awful shape.

Lexus is not known for longevity of their vehicles. Most require major engine work at 100,000 miles or shortly over this mark. l have a neighbor who has a 2001 Lexus. She is seriously looking into trading it as it is become a problematic car. It is been well cared for by her, has about 62,000 miles due to her traveling & she is the only owner too. But it is starting to nickel & dime her. From what she is finding out the hard way, Lexus cars r notorious for this problem.

lexus is made by toyota and they make a great car.if most of the miles are highway and the car was maintained you should have no problem getting another 100,000 miles out of it.lexus dealers offer great pre owned warrenties.check the overall appearance of the car inside and out its a good indication of how the car was cared for.

l have a 1994 Lexus LS400 with 205,000 miles and it still drives like a dream, no mechanical problems, quiet as can be, very smooth, drives like its brand new, my mechanic expects another 200,000 miles from it.

they are just rebadged toyotas dont waste your money on one you could by a mustang or a corvette and still get the money out of it after 5 years of abuse. not gonna happen with the lexus.its kinda like the saying for a guy who has a porsche has a little johnson but the guy who has the lexus is a big ahole..

Do not even both with the 96', they r dogs. 1st generation GS is just worthless l hate to admit. But from 98' up, they breathed life into them.

Lexus is well known to hit 300,000 miles on the engine if u follow basic Lexus recommendation services. You can not go wrong with a 00' GS300.

Comment to Belle up above...

Get out of the car biz..as u have no clue nor knowledge on Lexus. Funny that they have like 9 yrs of Best car, no other maker can come close to them.

And to others who say they r just dressed up Toyota's.again these people have no clue either. Only 3 of the 5 generations of the ES300 were Camry is as well. The 1st generation of most newer models r dressed up Toyota is to test the market prior to Lexus building their own model.

Show me a LS, GS, SC, the original Lexus vehicles, as any Toyota.you can not, they do not exist. They r solely Lexus.

'' l race cars is an obvious dumbass''
He knows nothing about cars or at least Japanese cars.
How often have you seen an Ford or Chevy get even 100000 miles? Not nearly as often as you see a Toyota or Honda with 200000 or 300000 miles
