l like the Garmin Nuvi series. They look good, work well, and come in a variety of models, with different features and prices. Here is a couple of web sites that lets you compare Garmins and other makes:

If u r asking what would be a good in dash navigation unit, then l would suggest either Pioneer or Eclipse. You will need an install kit that fits into the space for the radio & has a double DIN opening. Such kits r available for most cars on the market & u can try to find it on eBay, etc. If there is no such kit available for ur car & u do not mind paying the money then u can have one custom made.
There r many companies that sell in-dash navigation systems such as Pioneer, Eclipse, Kenwood & Clarion. The Kenwood & Clarion systems require u to purchase a touch screen monitor that has CD/DVD player function & mounts into the dash & the navigation unit itself which can mount under the front seat. The Pioneer & Eclipse units r all-in-one units that mount very simply into the dash. One of the Pioneer units (AVIC-Z2) is one such all in one units. It has touch screen & voice command capability & bluetooth kits, iPod/MP3 player adapters & rear backup camera kits r available to install with this unit as well. It features a 30GB harddrive for music storage. It has multiple outputs as well so that u can connect it to a monitor in the backseat for viewing DVDs. The Eclipse units have the same capabilities except voice command. Toyota dealerships sell these as an aftermarket GPS option. These units r less expensive than that from Pioneer & the others & it is of very high quality & is very accurate. You should go to the websites l have linked to & check out the various offerings from each manufacturer.
Do not forget that a viable alternative is the portable nav systems. There r those that mount to the windscreen, phones that r GPS capable from carriers such as Verizon Wireless & the Garmin nuvi series that can fit in ur pocket.
