Okay so l am buying a lexus is300, maybe year 2004. l wanna make this fast as lightning lol. What should l do to it? l will take it to a tuning store, but exactly what do l tell him to do, and around what price range will this all be? l want it turbocharged and all the good stuff. l want it prepared for racing.
Please give prices (at least an estimate) to turbocharge and make it all good.

the IS engine is capable of 800whp but break the 300 mark and tune the hell out of the suspension and you will have a faster car.

Wrong car, but is your money. l hope you have deep pockets. If you do it, you will see later why l am saying that.

For one ur gonna have to build up the internal forged pistons, rods & whatnot but since u want to turbocharge it ur gonna want to look into another tranny cuz the trannys on the is300 r only good for maybe 300 hp. & its gonna be costly because for one its a lexus.so be lookin at like $5500.i was interested in getting one but the insurance was too high but go to this is300 forum plenty of ppl have turbocharged them.they have strong blocks but they r expensive to mod.http://my.is/forums/f88/

Not to sound offensive or anything, but u sound like a 12 year old kid who does not know ANYTHING about anything associated with cars. l do not think u r reasy at all, unless u r so filthy rich that u could care less about the stuff that is in ur car & u have no problem paying full price for all parts, labor, & tuning.

If u want turbo, done properly it will EASILY cost u over $10k. The IS300 5spd wo not handle more then 325-350whp. First thing u must do is invest in a good transmission, meaning the supra v160 getrag which is a 6speed, that conversion in itself will cost u more then $10k but at least u wont have to go through 20 5speeds. Another option is the Soarer R154 which is similar to the is 5spd but it is built to handle more then twice the power. built autos can also work really well.

The turbo kit itself should run ya around $5000 for a nice T67 with a nice exhaust manifold etc. Next, u will need to upgrade ur fuel delivery system. bigger injectors, walbro fuel pump, etc. Suspension is a must with any car that u add alot of power to. A good set of coilovers should do the trick along with nice sways & control arms.

Also, l should mention that the IS300 block is much weaker then the non vvti 2jz found in the NA Supra/TT Supra/SC300/GS300. This means that u have 2 options. build the internals with stronger rods & different pistons. or just swap to a TT/NA block. this is around $3500 dollars from Toyota but then u pretty much have a brand new engine give or take.

If u want the car running right ur best bet is to go with a map ecu & have a shop tune it. if u r REALLY rich, get the AEM EMS because that is by far the best ecu on the market (costs almost $2k & u will never pass state emmissions unless u got the hookup).

People that do this sort of thing r usually really dedicated to what they love.To me, u sound like u r just excited to jump in & go burn rubber but u will soon see it is not that easy & when u put that kinda money into the build u wo not be so sudden to go & abuse the car. Best of luck.

If you are set on purchase an IS300 you do nothing other than purchase set of performance oriented tires such as Bridgestone RE-01R and sign up for a lapping school.

It will be a lot easier for you to learn and easier on your wallet if you keep the car stock, get decent tires, and just practice to drive better.

you put 15 turbos and 33 intercooler and it be faster then a bugatti veyron and it can also fly!!!!

l got a 2003 Lexus IS 300. l seen those cars do serious damage to Evo's, STI's..if hooked right that is. It is all really about how much u love & know the car.

And to answer, all the questions over there u really do not have to be rich to afford these things just about anyone can. It is all about how PATIENT u r in doing so.

Just do little things first & become friends with a lot of Toyota people even people that own IS 300 is & u might get ur big break.

l mean, it is nice to see a car like a Lexus compare to big cars, it does cost a little penny although it is worth the prices. Reason l did not get an Evo or ST l is because the IS is more cheaper, & l will have more fun making it a beast. l like to be different since not a lot of people own IS 300 is around where l live & if they do they r all automatics. So l like to prove all the Evo & ST l boys wrong when a Supra (Really good tuned IS 300) shows up to race.
