Buy on line getting Quotes from dealers in your area but no reason you cant buy out of town where you can get a discounted price. l live in Dallas and bought my car in San Antonio at the price l wanted to pay!

Research, research, research. Take a look around, Autos, Edmunds, Cars.com, etc, see what others have paid (in ur region); take a peak at the available discounts, special rates. Also, I'd not limit to just one dealer, try another dealer & see what kind of pricing they would offer to you. Comparison shopping pays off, find the best deal for you.

As far as ur old car goes, the most popular options r as u stated, either trade-in, or private party sales (i.e. another buyer). Trade-in will be less than private party but bottom line, with or without trade-in, the negotiated price should not depend on the trade-in.

That is actually a fair deal for an IS 250. If the salesman wo not go down, then take it for that price because you're not going to find a better deal anywhere else.

Be willing to walk out of the dealership. You should never put yourself into a ''must have'' situation when buying anything expensive like a car or a house. l will give an example.

My husband is car was totaled in May. We pretty much had to have a car pretty quick - but l did not tell them that. We wanted the Camry, but we played the Accord against the Toyota dealer. When we did not get what we thought was a fair deal on the Camry. We told them we could get the Accord we wanted for much less & they had it in stock & we could drive it home that day. If we could not get the Camry at that price, we'd be forced to get the Accord. Did not say it in a harsh tone, just said it as a matter of fact. Then we left. They called us back before the end of the day - they knew they had an easy sell.

l really do not see so many IS on the road that l do not think they'd cut u a deal. Good luck.
