l do not know, but l do not trust VWs and will never own one again. l had a Passat wagon (engine conked out at 60k miles) and a VW Cabrio (which has had nothing but trouble, also low miles).
l now have a 10-year-old Lexus that runs like new.
Take what you will from that.

l was actually in the same situation u r in right now, trying to decide between the Touareg, GX, Pilot & a Z71 Tahoe, & ended up with the GX in my driveway. l could not have made a better decision! l have 113,000 miles (yes, one hundred thirteen thousand) on my GX & honestly, l have yet to run into any issues. It tows our 21 Ft. Sea Ray bow rider better than my 2004 Silverado w/ a 5.3 does! The Navigation, Mark Levinson sound, back-up camera, reclining rear seats, it is all awesome! l bought mine in winter, & when l asked the salesman, ''What do l do when there is a foot of snow on the ground?'' he told me, ''Turn the key, put it in Drive & go.the car will do the rest.'' He was right, & now l am a believer. True reliability, great performance & a safe, comfortable ride make this car perfect for me. Remember that the Lexus Certified Used warranty is better than the factory new warranty, but u will probably never have to use it! Free loaner cars, most of the time u have a choice between the new ES, IS or RX vehicles, including the Hybrids, & the service advisors could not be nicer! I've heard shaky stories about VW & their reliability, although they still make an impressive vehicle, but I'd go with the Lexus. Good Luck!
