l want it.No one can afford it.l mean think about it.Someone in general who makes $200k a year, they're going to spend a quarter of their salary on a car?To get 35mpg instead of 20mpg??Someone who makes enough to drive such a car got where they are by not caring about the environment or saving a little bit on gas!!

l totally agree with you. l would love to have a hybrid car and save on gasoline, but NOT at that price. Thank you, l will wait until the prices come down.

Get 200k per year? You will easly spend 50k on a car. Man, if you can save 50% on your gas bills, it is probably worth it.

You can buy a lot of gasoline for $50,000. Bear in mind that any new innovation will initially be very expensive, & after production is geared up some of the costs begin to come down. Several years ago the first thin flat panel TV l saw in a store was about 36'' & cost $14,000. Now they r a whole lot less.

In a couple of years one of two things will happen: either the price of the hybrids will come down drastically or the whole concept will be a total flop. Personally, l think the hybrids r a waste of time.

Here is the logic behind the high price of that thing: If ur average car price was $25,000 & then the price of gasoline doubles, then by all rights the price of the car should double, too. Things have to be kept on an even par. If the price of gasoline had gone down instead of up the hybrids never would have made it off the drawing board.

This is why it is now economically feasible to squeeze oil out of sandstone when it was not worth it a few years ago. The same thing happened in the old gold & silver mines: when the price of gold & silver increased substantially then it was worth it to go back & sift through the tailings & recover the gold & silver that was passed over before when the price was lower.

The hybrids r just too much money right now, unless u r some arrogant dweeb who just HAS to have the latest thing. $50,000 will buy u 16,666 gallons of gas at $3 per gallon, & if u get 24 miles per gallon now that would take u 400,000 miles, which means if u drive 30,000 miles in a year it would take u 13 years to break even. But by then the hybrids would be half that price at least. I'd wait.

l suppose they thought there were sufficient suckers out there who would spend that much money on one of these silly cars that it was worth their while to build it. What is that saying? ''If we build it, they will buy!''.

In the UK the leader of the Conservative Party, David Cameron, has just got one because he wants to show that he is environmentally friendly and he wants to be Prime Minister one day.

Interestingly the deals on leases make it a very attractive purchase. l traded in my 3 year old Lexus RX 330. l walked out of the car dealership with a brand new RX400H for $10 more per month on a monthly payment basis.

So for me, l am not paying much more for the car. My gas mileage has gone from approx 16 mpg to 26 mpg.

l agree with the first person that the prices will need to come down but that is part of normal distribution. Look at the prices of DVD players now. When they first came out, who could afford them?

Toyota & Lexus offer various models in hybrid. If u would like a hybrid & cost is a factor than u should consider the Toyota hybrid models. The Highlander - SUV ($33,030), Prius ($21,725), or the all new Camary hybrid ($25,900).

These r models that offer great gas mileage & seem to be better for ur pocket.

Now the Lexus hybrid SUV or LUV, Luxury Utility Vehicle is the RX 400h ($45,355) there is also a hybrid sedan the GS 450h ($55,595).

The Lexus hybrids r performance hybrids, meaning buyer of these vehicle do not have to make any sacrifices. They get better gas mileage with out having to sacrifice luxury or power, in fact the Lexus hybrid vehicle offer more horse power & instant torque due to the electric motors. Also please note that hybrids r not just about better gas mileage it is also about cleaner emission. The Lexus Hybrids give off emissions similar to that of a compact car.

If the $50,000 price tag is to much for you. then u r not the intended customer for Lexus vehicles & u should consider the Toyota line. And u r right some of the people that can afford the Lexus vehicle could care less about gas prices, but they do still get the opportunity to help improve the environment.
