sounds like you need a new starter.

Check the battery. They only last a few years. It sound dead.

Sounds like you have starter problems or starter solenoid,turn on your headlights and have someone check to see if they dimmed when you turn the key to start engine,if they do,you need a starter,if not,maybe you need a starter solenoid also try cleaning the battery posts or have your battery checked,always go with the simplest thing that can go wrong,90% of the time that is what goes wrong

'Magneto' seems to have it right. Two other things worth trying: Check that you have a good earth and that the battery leads are tight with no movement whatsoever. Try 'rocking' the car from side to side. If the starter motor is jammed this often releases it.

if you only hear one click when the key is cycled- it is probably the starter- just put one on my 99 gs
